Scan To BIM | Hackney | East London

Scan To BIM Hackney

This was a typical Scan To BIM Hackney job in London and is a survey and model of an old warehouse / industrial building for mixed use redevelopment.

Point cloud Deliverable

A few days after the survey we supplied the registered .RCS format point cloud and Web Share photography from the scanner. The point cloud is a complimentary resource and contains a lot of information that it is generally not feasible to model. For example, minor deformations, cracks or deflection of structural timbers can be clearly seen and contrasted with a true level. In addition to the point cloud we also supply the scanner photography.

Scanner Photography

A standard survey will contain 70-100 panoramic images which can be used to walk a site without having to revisit. This photography is accessed via a windows based viewer which runs from a USB stick. The standard format for this photography is black and white, however we can also supply photography in colour and HDR.

Revit 2017

The drawup was instructed in AutoDesk Revit 2017. As with all our instructions custom Revit families were built for all the windows and doors. As families are built specifically for each job their weight is low and the geometry is relevant to the survey building. Any AutoCAD extractions will accurately reflect the building no matter where they are taken from. To ensure industry best practice, our LOD specifications reference the AEC (UK) BIM Protocols and the AIA (US) BIM protocols and build upon them to ensure a lightweight, easy to use models.
